Naomi P. Tucker, MS, NCC
My passion is helping people find personal meaning through times of change and loss. Deaths, anniversaries, children leaving home…these can all cause us to question our purpose. I will work with you to figure out where you want to go from this point in your journey and how you want to get there. I believe that everything we do is either a success or a learning experience, so everything is an opportunity for growth.
My orientation is person centered, which means the counseling relationship itself is the main avenue for healing, because when a person is accepted completely, they have the freedom to explore the parts of themselves that may have been too frightening to look at alone. I am trained in EMDR and have found that when we can process some of the memories and negative messages that have kept us stuck in low self-esteem and unhappiness, we can move forward to a better life.
I also have an extensive background in addictions and codependency. I believe that most of the time, addictions are a coping skill that worked well for a while, but are now causing more trouble than the problem they were born to solve. I’ll work with you to find some more helpful solutions.
You are the expert on your own life, and I am privileged to be a companion on your journey of recovery and personal discovery.
