Art Therapy
Art therapy uses creative expression as a nonverbal way to explore emotions, experiences, and inner states when words feel limited or inaccessible.
In Art therapy, you may use art materials such as:
-
Paints
-
Markers, pencils or pens
-
Clay or sand
-
Found objects
-
Metal, beads or wire
-
Textiles and fabrics
-
Magazines and Newspapers
-
Glue and other adhesives
-
Glitter
-
Items found in nature
The therapist uses materials, imagery and a variety of therapeutic interventions to help individuals externalize internal experiences, build emotional awareness, and regulate emotions without necessarily needing to explain or analyze.
Through drawing, painting, collage, or other art forms, people can gain insight, foster self compassion, and access new perspectives that support healing and personal growth.
